Walkr XY is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer.
Walkr’s music is an out-of-body expression of eccentric life and prolific passion, characterized by sharp lyrics and hybrid beats in the steampop sub-genre. Walkr has Tourette syndrome and uses untamed art to carve through the unforgiving world, in an oddly relatable way.
Ok I wrote that part for press and short form outlets, but I’m just gonna step into the raw shit for the rest of this. I honestly wish I didn’t see things so differently from everyone else all the time, but I do, so I’m gonna share a piece of that because it ties into the music.
Even though you can’t really tell now, Tourettes cast me out of normal social groups for most of my life. So I study people, and I find patterns. Some other people do this too, but they exploit those patterns.
I’m not on a rant, that’s just industrial psychology – it’s literally someone’s career to fuck with your head.
Anyway, the most profitable form of leverage is insecurity. They use it as a tool to guide people to products, decisions and ideologies. The media has a lust for psychological warfare, and it’s exhausting, whether you accept it’s happening or not. Most of our behavior is a product of subliminal messaging; a path paved by anchoring our attention to all the things we desperately want to avoid.
So I learned how to engineer subliminal messages into my own music. All of my songs carry a whisper that’s only detectable to the subconscious. Thoughts of calmness, courage, and a way to tune out the warfare. Maybe it doesn’t work, but maybe it’ll bring you some peace.
